We almost missed Sunday church because we were teasing each other with a heart-shaped whip and thought church was at 10:30, not 10.

Whoops!

My first Valentine’s weekend with N enriched my heart, body, and soul, per usual, and yet time with him has yet to get old.

Although we arrived five minutes late, we made it to just in time to see Grammy award-winning musician, and one of Seacoast’s very own, Brandon Lake, finish rocking the stage in worship wearing his rust leather pants, man bun, and sleeve-tatted arms. Luckily, he came back on for response time (our version of communion options) so we got the full effect!

And goodness am I glad we did not miss this sermon!

Why?

Because guest Pastor Rollins was there to preach on a different kind of love - a God-centered love and marriage.

And do you know what he said? He said compatibility was great but not the reason a relationship is successful. “It makes a great floor but not a ceiling.” Because it can only go so high, so far.

Yep, he blew my mind right open and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it!

So, naturally I did some research into the meaning of compatibility which sent me down a rabbit hole that I want to unpack with you today.

However, first I want to let you in on a not-so-secret, secret…

N and I are not that compatible, hence why he tried to break it off with me back in September (see WFLC 18) when his fear said, “We are too different. I don’t see how this is going to work.”

But I think something else might be the better determinant of an enriching relationship and the answer behind my friend’s question, “What do you find so attractive in N being a Christian? How is he different?"

Warning, this might have you rethinking your entire approach to love. Double warning, your heart might burst when you read this sentence that N wrote in my Valentine’s Day card! (this pic below is just a peak)
