Politics aside.

American women are something special.

There is a grit. A feistyness. Mixed with a sexy Apple pie sweetness.

A real life Gil Elvgrin pin up girl - the quintessential blend of sugary spice.

You can’t contain her. She knows her worth and she’ll tell you like it is.

She’s a firecracker in cut offs.

A potty mouth popsicle that gives you a brain freeze but you can’t. get. enough.

Let her be a baddie annnd make her your bad girl.

I promise she’ll bake you banana bread afterwards like the good girl she is.

She wants to be your devoted wife if you’de lay down your life for her.

She’s educated AF and probably doesn’t need you, but she really fucking wants you to be her cowboy and ride away with her into the sunset.

In the same week’s time I was volunteering at a kids church camp and putting out a brand new membership that combines our sensuality with out beliefs in God.

And on this 4th of July, I’m not going to talk about the thing everyone talks about, how much they love or hate this country. Instead, I’m musing on where the God in “God Bless America” meets the feminist paradigm of this nation.
